Market Researcher and Partnerships Internship

Stakester

About Stakester

We're a premier platform that enables users to back themselves and challenge anyone from around the world to a game of their choosing. Basically, this gig is about believing in yourself and backing yourself, so you can take home some hard-earned cash ...kind of like this job! Taking risks and crazy chances aren’t our thing - we empower people to believe in their own skills and worth and control their own destiny.

Bottom line? Stakester is where heroes come to back themselves. We’re a new company with a diverse squad of competitors, gamers and previous startup winners. We value hunger, passion, ideas and shared success and we want you to fit right in!

About the Role

We'd like you to come on board for a 3-month internship and conduct an overview of the gaming industry. Your task will be to deliver a mind map of the industry and details of key players and contact details for each, and to provide analysis of potential partnership opportunities to Stakester.

Your responsibilities

The work will initially be research led, and would suit someone keen to learn either:

  • how to execute business development (B2B) from the ground up (researching, highlighting opportunities, delivering analysis of these and, subject to time, reaching out to them); or
  • to execute one preferred research method or to 'trial and error' a few, the same with aggregating and presenting the research

You will be responsible for your own work, carrying out the research and presenting it to us. One of the directors of the company will work with you to help formulate your thoughts and a plan of action, then you'll be off to see what you can find!

The Stakester crew are a friendly bunch, and there will be plenty of people to bounce ideas off or ask questions to - gaming experts, sales, media and design specialists, and a lawyer.

Your day to day

Working either from home or from Stakester's offices in Holborn, London* you will learn more about the gaming industry looking at the various businesses and how they 'fit in' to the industry. So from games developers, to hardware makers and their suppliers, sports and gaming event hosts to marketing specialists in the area, and the big names in sports, gaming and esports as well as key sponsors of any of these companies.

You will map out all of these, present them in a format that, having looked into it, you think will be beneficial or most easily presentable to the Stakester team, investors or other stakeholders. We are keen to have ideas for the format of this and will be happy to let you have a go, or similarly we can provide you with some input on what may or may not work.

The output will include key personnel and contacts so that either you (subject to time) or Stakester can reach out to potential partners moving forward.

*Working conditions

Location is subject to change depending on Covid 19 circumstances. We will be happy to discuss working from home or the London office and are open / respectful to personal circumstances around isolation / shielding that may mean travel / office attendance is tough.

Background info

Stakester was founded in 2019 by an enthusiastic bunch. Our founder grew a previous tech start up from £0 - £125m valuation in 2 years, and other co-founders include a co-founder of Rockstar Games (Grand Theft Auto), a gaming PR specialist and a games developer. We all believe firmly in the motto 'back yourself' on which the premise of the app and the company itself is built.

Think you're good at something, or think that you could be? Come in, prove it, and take home the rewards.
