Software Development Internship

2Simple Software

About the Role

We create a space where children can learn while being creative, using the technology and tools they will have to use for the rest of their lives. We take difficult concepts and make them accessible to children of all abilities.

We are dedicated to making software that raises standards, enhances the learning experience, and saves teachers' time.    In 1999 we released the Infant Video Toolkit, a child-friendly office suite for desktop publishing, painting, graphing and coding. Today over 90% of UK primary schools use 2Simple software and our tools are used by teachers and students all around the world, in countries like South Africa, India, Sweden, The UAE, Australia and the USA

We are looking for a bright enthusiastic graduate for a 3-month internship which may progress to a permanent software developer position dependent on performance.

Your duties during the internship with approximate time breakdowns will be the following:

• Working on a frontend project in Typescript using VueJS. We will support you and provide guidance to help you learn (25% of time).

• Small development tasks on current codebases both front end and back end that we deem suitable for your skillset. We use lots of technologies, NodeJS, PHP, Python, Typescript and Javascript. (25% of time).

• Working with our current tester to code automated test scripts. This will involve development in Javascript and test automation frameworks (30% of time).

• Manual testing. This will help you become familiar with our products. We will also give you an opportunity to try and fix some of the bugs that you find (20% of time).

After the internship should you progress to a permanent software developer position, we will review your duties with a view to increasing the amount of time you can spend working on our current codebases and reducing the time you spend testing.
